Hello! I am new to this forum and am going to start learning how to play the pipa! I've been searching for a reliable place to buy one online and found www.soundofmountain.com/Is this a reliable place to purchase a pipa? If not, where do you recommend buying one? Have a blessed day

Welcome to the forum, Penelope13. I don't have any experience with Sound of Mountain, so can't offer any feedback about them. The pipas listed look to me to be beginner models, other than maybe the highest price model. I have a lot of good experiences ordering from Eason Music of Singapore, and even purchased a pipa from them some years ago. This pipa was highly praised by a pipa performer/teacher who moved to my area several years ago. My pipa is now owned by one of her advanced students.
Best wishes,
David

Hello Penelope and welcome,
Finding a teacher is more important than the small difference between pipas. As well as Eason I would recommend Redmusicshop, I bought a pipa from them on behalf of a friend and he is very happy with it. (see reviews)

I agree with Ed about finding a pipa teacher. None of the Chinese instruments are particularly easy to learn solo, but the pipa is especially challenging.
Best wishes,
David
