Hi everyone! I just created an account because I noticed that this forum has many dizi threads and members who love the dizi, so I wanted to contribute and share my love for the dizi as well. That aside, I have a question about a particular Dong Xue Hua dizi. Does anyone know anything about thr 8883 model? It doesn't seem to be as widespread. I searched it up in Chinese and got more results, so I was wondering if any of you here own one or have played one. I recently ordered one to replace my other D key (which was the first I ever bought , and I have heard some beautiful recordings of it. There are very few though. Also, does anyone know the difference between a fake DXH dizi and real one? Cheers, Chao

Welcome to the forum, Chao. I have several DXH dizi flutes, but I know nothing about a model number such as you mention. I have mostly ordered my Chinese flutes from Eason Music, and I have been happiest with the DXH. I prefer to order from a reputable vendor, confirmed with my own experience. I think that is the best way to avoid getting a fake or dud. If you have several trustworthy DXH dizi flutes, it may be possible to tell if something is off on a questionable dizi. Unfortunately if you are ordering from an overseas dealer, it will not help you to be able to spot a fake, since once you receive your order, it is too late. It is hardly worth the trouble to send it back, due to the shipping cost. Of course, you learn not to order from that vendor again.
You might contact Eason Music regarding the 8883 DXH dizi. It may be that they carry it but without the 8883 label.
Best wishes,
David

Hi, Eason's DXH are model 8883. I have no experience with fake DXH dizi. 8883 is one of the best sounding dizi I have tried. This is my personal view as tonal quality depends on individual preference. If you want an even better dizi, go for the special order 8885 which is personally handcrafted by DXH himself.

Hi everyone! Thank you for the quick responses. I guess I'll have to just wait and see how it sounds for myself. I've had good experience with Eason too, but they were out of stock on D keys The 8883 did sound very wonderful on the sample videod.
