Hello gang. I just finished my latest build, an Akebono scale tuned Xiao. The bamboo I used is Florida grown Silver Stripe. This particular piece is nicely speckled. The flute was burn cured before making and was finished in coconut oil inside and out after completion. The bindings are polished hemp and sealed with butcher block finish. This is a four hole flute tuned to the Japanese folk scale Akebono in E. I really like four and five hole scales for their elegant simplicity and creativeness. This flute is smaller than the other I posted last. The inner bore is approx 3/4" diameter which I think fits the Xiao playing more closely. It has a sweet voice and I will post sound samples a little later. This flute is ready for adoption to anyone interested (hoping I'm not breaking any forum rules by stating this. If so, please let me know and I will edit)

Here's some sound samples. The first is just an initial improve I did with it. The second is the Japanese folk tune Sakura Sakura, which I found this scale plays perfectly with no cross fingering or half holing. The third is a little folk tune I wrote with it after exploring its scale, again no half holing or cross fingering. xiao akebono improv.mp3 (834.28 KB) xiao akebono sakura sakura.mp3 (834.28 KB) xiao akebono folk tune.mp3 (834.28 KB)
