The China Performing Arts Agency, Ltd. presents "China National Traditional Orchestra: Rediscover Chinese Music," at the Kennedy Center Opera House, Washington, DC., December 11-13, 2015. The event showcases 160 musicians from China dressed in traditional costumes, and includes specially designed lighting and sound, stunning backdrops and scenery. China National Traditional Orchestra: Rediscover Chinese Music Produced by Xi Qiang Directed by Wang Chaoge Musical Arrangements by Jiang Ying The China National Traditional Orchestra is a state-level ensemble administered by China's Ministry of Culture. It comprises a full orchestra and a chorus, all members highly-esteemed both at home and abroad. Carrying forward the cultural tradition of Chinese national music, CNTO collects the essence of folk music as well as contemporary works in performances at home and on tour throughout Europe and the United States. The theme of Rediscover Chinese Music is the creation of new musical settings and arrangements for ten classic programs that capture both their original glory and a fresh novelty that will appeal to today's audience. The programs are High Mountain and Flowing Water, Three Stanzas of Plum Blossoms, A Parting Tune with a Thrice-Repeated Refrain, Silk Road, Blossoms of a Moonlit River in Spring, The Moon Reflected on the Spring, Ambush from Ten Side, Spring Festival Overture, and Yellow River and Wild Goose.
