Free guqin concert: www.ukchinesemusic.org/londonyoulanqin/qinupdates.htmGuqin concert "The sound of the Shu Qin" by Zeng Chengwei and Cheng Yu: SOAS, University of London, 21 June 2012 This is a rare opportunity to hear guqin music by Professor Zeng Chengwei – an authentic representative of the Shu 蜀 (southwest China) School of qin playing, who has been specially invited from the Sichuan Conservatory of Music, Sichuan, Southwest China. He is also an expert maker of qins. His instruments are admired not only by professional qin players but also by collectors, both in China and abroad. In this concert he will play qin pieces from the repertoire of Shu School, including Da Hujia 大胡笳 (Great Nomad Reedpipe), Liu Shui æµæ°´ (Flowing Water), and Qiu Shui 秋水 (Autumn Water). He will be joined by Dr Cheng Yu, who teaches guqin at SOAS. Pieces she will perform include Meihua San Nong 梅花三弄 (Three Variations on the Plum blossom) and Puan Zhou 普庵咒(Incantation of Puan) (qin & xiao duet). It would be nice if the Professor could sell his guqins online. I'm sure there are plenty of guys who want a quality guqin but don't know (or don't trust) where to go.
