Wow! I wanna go there!
And that lianzhu qin looks strangely like mines (though more shiny) to the extent of the distance between the first string and the hui matches mines exactly)! Maybe he made my qin...

Where's the lianzhu qin you are talking about, Charlie? Can't seem to see it anywhere on that web page...
By the way, if I get a guqin table custom-made, are the measurements in the picture correct for a serious guqin player? If so, what sort of timber would you suggest? What other additional feature would you introduce to it (like the chair and so forth)?

Damn, can't link!
Third set of pics, four bottom ones. Lianzhu = "joined pearls", i.e. three semi-circular grooves on the neck and the waist.
The light brown zhongni qin is one of Zeng Chengwei's qins (rather distinctive).

I made my qin from an ikea table - sound is not great i suppose, but i had the legs cut to exactly my hight requirements so i am very satisfied with it - of course it cost 200rmb so i cant complain!!!
I did see a good dismantable table in the new qin shop - ill take a pic next week.

I really did!!
I did not want to just waste money on another "bulky thing", after all i am living abroad so i thought that when i see a table i really like i will get it. Untill I saw the dismountable table the other day - i had only see tables that i was not so happy with.....

In one on the local qin shops they have some lovely "table runners" with a gu pin qin pu printed on to the fabric (i dont know what song -sorry, i can ask though). Perfect for the fashionable gu qin player. I will try to photgraph it for you all.
One thing though - would they effect the sound if the qin is placed over the fabric?

It *might* affect the sound since fabric, such as a carpet, can absorb the sound. I found a wooden floorboarded room with a rug can increase the sound quality. Also depends on the room size, type of wallpaper, what furniture is the the room and location of the room.
