I cant remember what the crossy thing is (see the darker green area). It looks familiar but i cant see it in my references. Also I think the light green area means - Ti on 3rd and 2nd string together then slide up to 8 then 9.10 ( or is it 9 then 10)?

The crossy thing means 'and' or 'then', mostly used as a separator so you don't get muddled up by seeing so many numbers together.
This looks like a Ming dynasty score, so it uses relative position rather than the modern absolute (i.e. 11 here means 10.8, and the 9 10 means 'between 9 and 10', i.e. 9.4 or 9.5, etc).

Thanks!
Very intersting and a bit odd about the numbering but thanks!

It's not 'odd' because this is the system used before the decimalisation of hui positions.

Ok I keep encountering things that I only half understand - hope one of you is more familiar with these:- A - (where is starting position) this is sliding down past 13 hui and then back to 10. Keep finger on string and then gou. ' B - this looks like a gou ti when the finger in past the 13th hui? C - Then finger still out past 13 - go a guo and slide up to 10 hui ? but its still a 6. so i cant undertand that! then a ti and slide back out of the 13th hui and back to 10 hui? D - looks like whilest sliding up and down on the 2nd string - i do a lun on the 4th string and at same time slide to 10 hui on the 2nd string? i am sure that i have made some error somewhere.

A: correct.
B: guo then guo ti on second string at 13.2
C: guo, slide up to 10, then ti whilst the finger slides back down to 13.2 (zhu), then slide up to 10 again, followed by guo.
D: From the beginning of the bar. Guo at 13.2, slide up to 10, then slide up to 9 whilst doing li on open string five so they sound together, then slide back to 10 and pluck string 4 so it sounds together with that.
