Hi Dylan Welcome to the forum. The cost of music tuition is a major cost. I'm currently paying £35/hr for my liuqin/zhongruan tuition. (After the first month I will only take it on a half-hour basis). It would be optimistic to find a music teacher, who having spent a small fortune on tuition, would be willing to teach for free to someone he/she will never meet. However i may be wrong. If you do find one please let us all know!

I'll teach for free!@ However I presume you want someone to teach pipa well, rather than someone who doesn't know (quite) what he's doing with the pipa Alternatively, try here: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/There_ain%27t_no_such_thing_as_a_free_lunchJoking aside, Carol of Chinesezither.net has made an excellent set of English online articles on how to play the guzheng - she has graciously made these all free for players, to spread the art of the guzheng. If the free lessons are more important than the pipa, perhaps you could try learning guzheng? It's a much neasier instrument to learn on (not to say I've accomplished anything either) than the pipa, even if I'm starting both..

The pipa is amazingly difficult to learn- I tried playing Xindi's pipa. If there is a pipa teacher nearish you, you can do what I'm doing - have a few lessons to get started then reduce the hours either by having longer gaps between each lesson or have half a lesson.
I tape my music lessons as i have the memory of a goldfish. The teacher needs then only to play the notes once and then you can practise over and over again at home.

Actually Pipa is not very hard to learn about... well i'm not "Showing Off" but i'm actually a guzheng player. My friend just tell me where is the 'do re mi' are then i'm practice by myself. And Pipa.... before i'm in this kind of thing, i have no interest on Pipa but my(another)friend teach me how to perform lun zi that start from the last finger. so i was just so curious that time and i take the pipa in my school and start play. Nobody tell me about where the nots are so could be said that i'm miraculously can play Pipa
