Excuse for primitive question. Would you help me? I know, that pipa tune ADEA. But what string is "E" and what "D"? Thank you very much. P.S.: Sorry for bad english.

I understand the first A (reading from the left) as the low string. So the D string sounds the second lowest pitch and the E string a step up from that. The high A string sounds an octave up from the low A.
Best wishes,
David

I find the answer after asking about.
To tune a pipa in D, the strings are dropped tension from key of C - A d e a [5.. 1. 2. 5.]
To
G c d g
Then to tune to G
D G A D
I make the mistake of tuning up and break the strings again. It must be tuned down, problem then is the lowest note drone buzzing too much.
Liu Yang River is supposed to br the key of G but the jian pu is [ 1.. 5.. 6.. 2] due to down tuning, so the extra two .. in the middle 2nd and 3rd strings.
