Hey all: The Chinese Art and Music Association is having their annual concert on June 18 in Meany Hall at the UW campus (that's "University of Washington".) Info and poster: www.uschinamusic.com/This is Warren Chang's organization. I have been to a number of his group's performances before, had his ensemble come and play in our city, and taken lessons from him. It is wonderful Chinese Traditional music. Carlos

I returned home Sunday evening from four days in Seattle playing with the Huong Viet Performing Arts Group in their program Saturday evening. Wow, what a lot of fun! It was a lot of work also, of course, but the big leaps of faith I took landed just fine. I played seven tunes on dan bau (monochord), tranh (zither), and nguyet (moon lute), the latter two in public for the first time. One of the highlights and challenges for me was a performance by the wonderful singer and tranh master, Kim Uyen. I accompanied on dan bau along with a young student of my teacher on tranh, and HaiYen Nguyen on drums. It was quite an experience to be on the same stage as Kim and HaiYen. My performance of Da Co Hoai Lang on dan bau with my teacher's student on tranh was very well received, much to my relief and pleasure. The photographer at our event has posted some pics at his website: www.creativeflashes.com/Events/208300There are photos of me in most of the non-dance sections. Best wishes, David
