I don't know how to begin this thread, exactly, except that I was wondering esp. those of you who've lived in mainland China and/or who've had relationships with mainland Chinese girls/guys whether you know anything about what they think about love marriage. Is marriage (at least to some) considered a comeradery union? How much role does tradition still have (despite the cultural revolution) in this relationship and, for that matter, etiquettes associated with marriage e.g. wedding proposal, dowry, etc. etc.? Is open display of affection in a relationship considered weak and therefore tabooed? What's the role of sex in such a relationship (or is this perhaps too "adults only" for this forum? Please excuse my seemingly ignorant attitude, but I am really not as I am just trying to find out whether there's any socio-cultural difference here. Or is this going to be censored? From my own experience, I really think that there's a difference now re attitude towards love and marriage between Chinese people on the mainland and Chinese people in other places like Taiwan, whether or not we like it (and without any biased preconception)....

Well one gets a bit "shy" on such topics (well I do...) and it's a bit adults-only. Anyway no-one seems to have an opinion so far...?
