Although this article isn't specifically about music, I think it's relevant to our board (as there are so many non-Chinese here, learning about Chinese music, language, and culture). Personally, though, I think Daoism (or even "Chan"/Zen Buddhism) might be a better choice to of philosophies to promote than Confucianism.

Being much a Confucian myself, I still think these 'government supported' institutes are slightly dubious. Surely, it should promote all three Chinese philosophies as they all deal with different aspects of the Chinese psyche. I think Buddhism needs not much promotion as it is already strong without the need. Confucianism and Daoism on the other hand aren't that popular. Doaism needs to be addressed as it deals with issues of the environment, which is essential in this day and age.
