A bit late, but the yaji happened yesterday (depending on which continent you are on). It was held on Yahoo! Messenger and hosted by Wang Fei. Participants included her, me, Julian Joseph, Jim Binkley, Jonathan, Lengxian, Paul, Xixi, Tomfry, and a few others.
After testing the voice software was working, discussion started with introductions of each other, followed by Wang Fei-san's summary of what happened during the year at NAGA (including visits from various overseas qin players like LXT, Wang Fei-san's visit to China, the Tang Dynasty qin "Jiu Xiao Huan Pei" auction and LXT et al playing on it, the August yaji of NAGA, LXT new improvisation CD + book, etc). Then, we each talked about what we did qin-wise over the year, before qin playing began.
After much experimentation, we discovered the best way to create a good and smooth sound was to place the microphone under the qin and under the long ci (Dragon Pond sound hole).
Then, Wang Fei-san talked about the future plan for 2005 in NAGA and a discussion of how to promoted Chinese and qin music in the West, etc. This was followed by random questions to Wang Fei-san about qin, etc. Then, some qin playing by those who didn't have a chance to hear (because of technical issues, etc), before Wang Fei praised Julian-san for his kind efforts in helping with qin projects like this. She left*, and remaining players had an after yaji party were there was more qin playing.
A full report would be published on the NAGA website shortly: www.guqin.org

*My computer crashed before she left, but I decided not to go back on because when she had left, I would not be able to get back into the conference without her. So, the stuff that happened afterwards is a guess in accordance with what others planned to do afterwards.
