Hello there ! I'm so happy to have found this place, I'm really interested in traditional chinese music for a while and I want to start learning dizi by myself. It's reassuring to see a lot of people playing here and all the advices and tutorials that can be found in this place !!
Anyway, I'd like to buy a (beginner) dizi but I have zero clue of what I should take. I have zero knowledge in music as well. I read a bit there, but a lot of the links for eshops are down, so... I just understood that I should take a dizi in a D note ? (or C) But other than that, what should I look for ? My budget is 80USD max, if you have any recommandation it would be very useful !!
Thanks a lot !

There's actually more activity/discussion on Facebook these days and it's quite quiet here. Did you check out Eason? I know they are open as they're active in their Facebook: www.easonmusicstore.com/collections/wind-instrumentsAs for advice and tips, do read through the rich info already in the forum. It's old info but fortunately stuff on music doesn't really "expire"

Hi Syomi and welcome. Ordinarily I would recommend Eason in Singapore but tbh I think you are taking on a huge task to learn the dizi by yourself without any previous musical knowledge. I had a really cheap dizi from ebay that played well on all octaves but cracked when I left it on the window sill on a warm day.
I started on the hulusi and it's so much easier to play but even then i had tuition. The system of musical notation or jiangpo will need some explaining.
Good luck, Ed
