Hello everyone! I started playing the Xiao a few years ago, but I ended up leaving it after being unable to find books in English about the Xiao to further improve my technique. I was stuck with three or four websites which are great, but they're not as detailed as a proper book on the technique of the xiao. I was wondering whether there have been any updates. Has a book or a new website come up with more information about the Xiao? Maybe someone has collected a good playlist of tutorials on YouTube? I tried accessing some on a chinese website, but I think they were geoblocked.
If anyone has intermediate level tunes that are nice for the Xiao, I'd love to see those too! I've got an F-key Qin Xiao.
Thank you very much!

Greetings. There's much lower activity here I guess due to people moving to social media platforms but such forums hold valuable past discussions that are easily searchable. I tried learning the Xiao on my own and even though I can use the Chinese materials available I couldn't make progress. I signed up for classes and overcame the obstacles with a teacher's guidance. I believe this is similar for wind instruments such as the Dizi, Xiao, Shakuhachi, etc. The proper breath, embouchure, pitch, and sound quality is hard to get right without guidance. Given the pandemic situation, consider engaging for online classes with a teacher if there are no teachers nearby. My Xiao lessons were from Eason Music which I think they also offer online ones. Hopefully the timezone fits: www.easonmusicschool.com

Have a look at American wudang, they’re martial arts, but have a lot of Xiao tutorial on, plus have started regular online practice sessions on discord. They’ve been really helpful

www.waysofwudang.com has a lot of excellent tutorials on the xiao. He has demonstrations on YouTube along with the notation for each song. They also have a discord channel where they get together online and practice. I am finding it very helpful, and is all in English.

A friend of mine gave me a Xiao (in A), so I started to check it out - first thing I need was a beginner's tutorial. Your recommendation was perfect!!! Thank you very much!! Regards, paul...
