I am looking for an new erhu bow. Looking on the website of EasonMusic , the have jointless erhu bow and singel joint erhu bow.
What are the pros and cons of having a jointless of singel joint ? How does this affect the bow, playing, sound,
flexibility?
And how do these characteristics form the sound and playing pleasure? What kind of bow do you use, and do you like it?
Someone experience with both types of bow Is one better than the other?

I use thicker bamboo Beijing styled bow. I think it allows for a more wide dynamic range than thin bamboo. Shanghai styled bows are a bit difficult to remove from the strings imo.jointless bows are more comfortable to play

I just ordered a new bow from eason. Its the MEH51. I read here that many people are satisfied with this bow. I also ordered the bridge package with 8 different bridges, with which I am going to experiment. I am very curious about the sound difference. And I also ordered a few new dampers. To make it all complete I have renewed the strings, resin and qianjin before. So my entire Erhu has had an upgrade. (Except for the erhu itself of course )

Nikki can you please give an update of your bow and bridges? I am curious with your results. I am a wood worker and have lots of scrap wood lying to play with some bridge making but I can't justify the time to make a bridge or two. Your insight would be a nice read! best, Mike

Sorry for the long wait for an answer, but I can't say much about it because I don't play the erhu properly yet. Now I have finally found a teacher in the Netherlands and I am going there for the first time in early September. She will probably judge my erhu and accessories. Then I can tell you more.
