Hello! I'm new to this board and glad to be here and talk with you. I bought a new dizi (shipped directly from China to my country, France). I'm very happy with this instrument, the sound is very pleasant, easy fo form even in high register (I can drive it till third G)
I play many kinds of transverse flutes, classical/baroque (metal or wood) or traditional bamboo flutes from other countries. And I'm very surprised with the length of the dizi. This Bass G has 25cm after mouthhole; and about 10cm "in excess" on the other end, because the first no-finger hole (one of the 4 end-holes) is obviously the escape-hole of air when all holes are plugged by fingers, so the 10cm are "useless"... logically.
Do someone know the reason for those extensions, both sides? Does it improve the acoustic? Thank you.
Roland
