I just had the shock of my life when I read this: www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-africa-41524710I hope the erjiao I get online are not made from such sources. I also Googled "Erjiao". Does anyone use something else instead of erjiao? Ed

use the white milk like glue that student use to glue paper work just fine. Actually work better than erjiao and plant resins. Erjiao and plant resins don't work for wood that have a lot of oil.

I like the ability to moisten the membrane a little to adjust. This works with erjiao since it is water-soluble. The white glue I know of could not be adjusted easily after setting. I have not had any trouble with erjiao on my wood dizis.
Best wishes,
David

Most of wood dizi would work with erjiao; however, the one with a lot of oil the erjiao glue won't stick. It doesn't work for my african blackwood dizi.

Winson Liao makes some dizi with the membrane, and i got a couple of them, but the way he gives them to me as well as demonstrates it is with a piece of normal tape. He says the rice membrane masks the usual cheap quality of the bore. With just normal transparent tape its got more of a soft xiao sound.
