Hello everyone, I have a nice guzheng leaning against the wall when I'm not playing, just like you would see in guzheng stores. I'm sitting here thinking, if there were a strong earthquake, my guzheng would probably be badly damaged. How would you secure the guzheng so that it won't tumble around or bounce against the floor and the wall in the event of an earthquake? Thanks for your inputs.

Ha Ha, if my home were involved in an earthquake the least of my worries would be instruments.

Could you put two fixings into the wall and run a bungie cord or something with hooks onto each one, maybe a cord across the bottom and top of the instrument so if it does shake or get knocked etc it is secured to the wall? You could place a padded cloth against the instrument to stop the cords damaging it when under strain, or make padded tubes and run the cords through them so the cords themselves are padded.
