I've taken a break from Chinese musical tuition and it's been probably half a year since I touched my erhu, dizi or even my hulusi. This is mainly work related and also the lesser reason of my teacher living so far away from me.
Also the last few years I've been taking classical guitar lessons as well and since his fees are quite high, I've mainly concentrated on that.
I keep meaning to go back to my Chinese teacher, especially since he's retiring from his day job next month. It's just so hard to get back into that routine again; work is so exhausting. I keep wishing to win the lottery, buy my teacher a house next door to me and spend the rest of my days doing things I really want to do.

Winning the lottery is my wish also so I can spend my time with music and crafting things. Balancing work and hobbies is so difficult. At least you are still finding time for some music.
My uncle played classical guitar, it doesn't seem easy to learn and looks time consuming to practice. The classical pieces at the end sound amazing though! The hulusi looks like an interesting instrument.
Sometimes it is good to take a break and try something different for a while.

I had tuition on the ruan/liuqin by the UK's only professional ruan player but that ended abruptly when his vista expired and he had to return to Taiwan. I thought tuition on classical guitar would give me a good grounding on all aspects of stringed instruments but that hasn't been the case. Though I suppose compulsory learning of music theory has helped me with my other instruments. Ed
