Hello all!
As a being living in wales, uk it's incredibly hard to find an erhu player/teacher so I have been trawling the internet for resource books. However as I only speak english there are very few.
I purchased How to Play Erhu, the Chinese Violin book 1 by H. H. Lee when I purchased my erhu. It covers bowing technique, scales, jianpau notation and finering charts for the majors. But it's lacking in detail and it's very basic.
So the two I am currently looking at are Bridging the gap by Patty Chan and Follow Me to Play the Erhu by YaoWei.
Now Bridging the Gap seems like it covers pretty much every aspect as well as troubleshooting and corrections. It is pretty pricey and hard to find reviews so if any of you fellows have read it I would love your opinions
Follow Me to Play the Erhu comes with a dvd/Mp4 play along disk which would be useful. However cannot find any reviews so don't know how much content it actually holds.
if anyone has purchased/read these two books (or can suggest others) I would really appreciate your feedback or suggestions.
Many thanks, Jam

The DVD seems informative, though I didn't look through all of it.
Yaowei is talented and speaks slowly so you can understand, but he does have an accent. I will say that the whole look of the video is old fashioned, but that doesn't really matter to me.
It is split up like this:
1. The elementary knowledge (13 min) background
2. The skill of the left hand (30 min)
3. The skill of the right hand (22 min) some symbols explained
4. Musical compositions
I don't know if it is only for me or because of my computer, but the videos take a long time to load.
