I am interested in learning but do not have access to teacher. Specifically WRT guzheng, old forms, pedagogic material, poetry, et al in relation to TCM and of course guzheng. Has there been much translated? (unfortunately I am english speaker only).
Grateful, randal

For general Chinese music in English, there is "Music of the Billion" by Mingyue Liang. There are specific books as well for different topics. Often times you can find articles on the web on your interest, and some include bibiographies. Wikipedia is good for this. For guzheng, there are tutorial books by Carol Chang available on her Sound of China website. You may also want to check out the guzheng book by Bei Bei He. Both books can be found via Google.
Best wishes,
David

Thank you David. I didn't see much online in my previous searches but I'll try again. I'll see about aquiring those other materials you cite. Much appreciated.

One book I found interesting is "Lives in Chinese Music" by Helen Rees. Other authors you might check out include Bell Yung, Jonathan Stock, and Laurence Picken. You might check your library for the journal "Asian Music", which often has articles on aspects of Chinese music. These materials are often academic in orientation, but that's what you are going to find. JSTOR is an online repository of theses and scholarly articles, and there are some that you may find interesting. JSTOR is mostly available to college students and professors, but you may get access through your library system.
Best wishes,
David
