Hello everyone, I didn't post anything for a while. Today I decided to try a new project: to post some videos about famous folk songs that I play with my C tuned dizi. I provide the score in Western notation in jianpu + 2 demos (slow without ornamentation and faster with basic ornamentation). I don't know whether it is a good idea or not, I don't know whether it can help someone or not. Please, let me know what you think about it? I would post one video per week, 12 videos all together. Best regards and best wishes for 2018! Flolei PS. The playlist is here: www.youtube.com/watch?v=hrh-ozIyWLA&list=PLKnUDkqGTiBJvuTYxYYBw1Ep--ilihHjD

Cool idea! There's not many resources like this for beginners - the very bare bones versions as you'd find in a beginners' songbook. And to have a more advanced version/TV version there is great too. Will you be doing longer segments after this example one? Also, will you be marking the ornamentation on the jianpu? I can guess some of it but I'm never sure (Looks like I've subscribed to your Youtube already!)

OK,I will try to ameliorate this next time (I will put symbols and explain them in the description). The problem is that it is difficult to include things in the jianpu. It would be easier in the Western notation which is made with the software Musescore.
Songs are not very long and are repeated 3 or more times. I thinks that one such a song a week for a beginner is enough. You think I should choose longer ones?
Many thanks for your constructive comment and susbribing!

OK, I posted a second video. Seems not to be a big interest for this kind of thing. So, I will post a third one and interrupt the project until it will be more interest for it.

Flo, it's a very honourable thing you're doing, if others are interested that's excellent but essentially you have to do it for yourself foremost. I'm up to my neck in work and so am only an erhu player now. Keep it up though and don't be dis-heartened. Best wishes, Ed

Dear Ed,
thanks for your kind message. I agree with you and I am not dis-hearted or sad at all.
When I make videos, I usually make it for myself. But with this playlist, I want to help people, as I was many times asked on Facebook to make such videos.
If there is interest, I can make more of them and I will do it with a great pleasure, if there isn't I would rather make something else. That's all what I wanted to say.
Thanks to have allowed me to make it clearer.
Happy that you keep on playing music. I actually play less Chinese music for now, as I started to learn a new woodwind (diatonic harmonica)
and play music from Ireland in a group (whistle and low whistle). Difficult to find time and energy for all the kinds of music I like to play!!!
Best wishes,
Flo.

This forum is pretty slow. I'm sure there'll be people coming across this thread months and years later who'll find it useful Coincidentally my teacher just assigned me Xiao Fang Niu! Thanks for putting a full version there too - I can refer to it when learning

Thank you for the posts Flolei! I've found it hard to find videos of just dizi solo music (without a backing orchestra).

Thanks for this. I bet some of these might be nice on the harmonica too!
