Hi folks,
I recently purchased a Xun. Its pretty neat but its difficult to make sound with. I was wondering if anyone had some tips on making the embouchure?
Thanks!

Playing a xun is cross between playing a dizi and blowing a bottle top. My guess is your embouchure is too large. Once you have figured out the embouchure it really isn't difficult to play.

It also depends on the instrument.
A large percentage of the xun made these days are more for show than for playing. I should look up the articles to support this comment, but I'll leave that to you.
Does your xun have a slightly cut edge on the blowing hole? Many of the better instruments have some slight sharpness to the blowing edge.
And then there's tuning.....

Hi, I got my Xun from Imperial City Ocarina. Its designed with the same fingering as an Ocarina. I believe its tuned correctly but at this point I'm still trying to get the higher notes. That said, I figure it will only be a matter of practice and experimentation but I was hoping I could get some pointers. Thanks, Siscoe

Thanks, Siscoe They seem to be OK instruments - take some time and work on the embouchure.
