Does anyone know of any online resources with decent instruction or that actually go into ornaments? As I'm starting to progress, I'm seeing a lot of slides and other additional ornaments, and while I have written explanations of what each means, some of them are very confusing/difficult to figure out.
I've seen that one Eason video, but I'm looking for something a bit more in depth.

I sure wish someone would give you information on this. I too struggle to figure it out. Marilyn

Which ones in the "helpful erhu fingering charts" I posted years ago, are you having trouble with?
The slides up/down usually are sliding half-step/whole-step up or down. It can be more than a whole-step (2-3 whole steps if you can stretch your fingers that much).
The two slides shown together (moving slide) on the chart have to do with, e.g., 1st and 2nd fingers are moving together until the first finger is on the note and the second finger lifts off; (dot) the first finger is on a note that the second finger will eventually slide to and lift off. (I vaguely remember this).
Hopefully, someone can confirm/correct this for you.
Regards,
paul...

Marilyn/gusty,
I went thru my old erhu book and found some info. I'll take some pix of the pages and post. You can download them and try to translate them via an OCR optical character recognition) website for Chinese. Once you get the original Chinese characters, you can send them to Google translate.
I'll try to get this to you in the next couple of days (need to charge up the battery in my camera).
Regards, paul...

Here's a sample (first page) of the Jumping bow technique (OCR of Chinese, then into Google translate): Pull bow or push the bow to play a jump start, After the arm of the right hand, the bow homeopathic lift. The second part of the throwing action When the bow descends to the tube, the right hand moves downward Look at the bow hair, while pulling (or push) bow, So that the bow will be in the drum tube chord rebound effect Under the rapid beating ErhuJumpBow1.pdf (597.73 KB) I did this from a huge copy/scan machine but the second page didn't work in the OCR site. I'll go back to try and take photos of the needed pages instead of scanning them in. Regards, paul...
