I was searching around on youtube, and I found this video demonstrating Confucian ritual instruments. It's very rare footage, and demonstrates rare instruments no llonger used in mainstream traditional Chinese music www.youtube.com/watch?v=mLdLPIH5APo Update: I found that the video is of an electric exibit on Confucian instruments. You pull out a pictre of an instrument, and the demonstration shows up on screen: www.youtube.com/watch?v=XFjfmkuSEY0

Asian music is an art that should not be messed with
I was surprised at how obscure some of the instruments are; in particular I was curious with the dizi type of instrument where you blow from the middle.
I have a couple of xun which I haven't played in a while and the music for the xun works very well for the Xiao as well.

There is a more common type of middle blown Dizi called "Koudi" that you blow from the middle. The Koudi is actually one of the word's smallest flutes. And I've also have an interest in Xun. There have been Xun found in Japan that date back to the Yayoi period, showing trade between China and Japan at the time. Bamboo108 has a video on youtube of a recreation of a Yayoi Era style Xun, titled "Soil Whistle of Yayoi Era"
