Hi!
I'm new to this forum, and have just picked up my hulusi. It was a gift and has been sitting on a shelf gathering dust for a while (in its case), and now I've finally decided to get round to learning how to play it.
Finding resources seems to be very difficult. I found a tutorial blog, but after 4 lessons it refers me to a site which I can't access (I just get an error message).
I've figured most of it out, though, and have managed to get a bit of a tune out of it. However, now it is seeping water (condensation and spit) all over the place. I can take the central pipe out, and the drone, but the dummy drone is still attached. I'm going to have a go at cleaning the two detachable pipes with my recorder cleaner. Is there a special tool for cleaning inside the gourd part, though? That seems to be where most of the moisture has collected, and I've no idea what to do about it.
I've noticed it's getting harder to play. Is this because of the moisture? Is the reed damp or something?
I've played flutes, recorders and whistles before (not professionally by a long shot), but I've never owned a reed instrument. Any advice and help would be greatly appreciated.
Many thanks,
Sonya.
