Hi guys, this is my first post on this forum. Nice to meet you all!
Contrary to everyone here, I am not a Pipa player, but I really need some advice on buying one. The thing is, my mother's birthday is coming up soon, and I was thinking of getting one for her as her previous one broke about half a year ago.
I tried look scrolling through a few online shops but I have literally no idea what I should be looking out for in terms of branding, price and components. Would anyone be able to point me in the right direction? I am hoping to get a decent set at around $250 USD.
Oh, and I live in Singapore, in case any of you might know any good places to buy a Pipa there.

Hi colintzx and welcome,
If you live in Singapore (lucky you) there really is only one place to go: Easonsmusicstore I bought one a while ago on behalf of a friend and am not sure but $250 USD won't buy you much. Perhaps that is what your mum's one cost....and it broke? Since it's for your mum why don't you take her along and let her choose one?

I hope to keep this purchase a secret and surprise her on the day itself. Took a look at the eason and judging by the prices I might go for this model right here: www.easonmusicstore.com/webshaper/store/viewProd.asp?pkProductItem=102Is it a good choice, or would I be better off picking something else?

I'm not a pipa player, best you contact Song or Samuelwong on the forum. However I'm sure if it's sold at Eason you won't get an inferior model whatever you choose.
