During my visit to the Israeli artist colony of Safed, I encountered the following sculpture: I argued to the curator of the store-- who also happens to be the deputy mayor-- about the inaccuracies in the performer's posture in playing the pipa. The curator said that this is merely art and does not attempt to reproduce how a pipa should be played. Well, I have no further comment in a country that likes to point out the inaccuracies in the Last Supper painting and the fact that Shabbat ends on Saturday night so strictly speaking Mary Magdalene visited Jesus' tomb on Saturday night rather than Sunday morning.

Yes it's a beautiful sculpture, though you thought the artist might have researched the subject matter better first.
