Thanks Willy,
The aches have all gone but the poor memory persisted. I kept repeating the same mistakes as what my teacher told me. How come I cannot correct my mistakes? I think it boils down to my poor memory. My teacher says the best way is to memorize the scales/jianpu and sing it out loud while playing. I don't seem to be able to do that so I have to look at the jianpu most of the time. By doing so I could not check on my bowing techniques and it went downwards and backwards like a swing. If only I can memorize the jianpu I would be able to check on my bowing.
You have played guitar for 20 years so you have music background. For a person like me with no music background the learning curve is very steep. I can play the piece but unable to bring out the essence of music. I admire those who are self taught and just learning from youtube. For new comers I recommend to have a teacher to check on your techniques rather than rely on your own judgement. Nevertheless I will persevere to achieve that but it takes time, I am coming to 64 this Sep.

Oh is 60 years of playing guitar and not 20 years! Yes thats right.. I started guitar at age 13 my first band Freddy and the Free Loaders when I was 15.. few years later ended up Playin almost every bar in Ontario travelin all over the place. Never became famous.. Never wanted it never wanted to be rich. What for. Spend all day counting all that money No thanks. Instruments I messed with over the years are. Guitar, peddle steel, harmonica, piano, fiddle and now the erhu.. Its the toughest of the bunch to be honest. At our age Penny., It does not matter if we make mistakes. Whats the plan ahead. I have no plan.. I can see the end of my highway of life and will follow were it goes.. So we can play our erhu's down this highway of life mistakes and all. No one cares.. No one listens. No one listed to oldie goldies. No more bars, no more bands Just me and my stereo.. I can't play erhu worth a doo doo but I do enjoy it.. No concerts to play. Just me and my stereo.. Be alone now since 2007 when wife passed.. I hate it but it is what it is.. So.. I just while away the hours doing things that don't matter a hoot.. No pressure.. Main thing tho its keeping the gears in my brain rotating.. As long as I keep doing that there will no cobwebs intruding and ending up a dodo dodo mode.. Translation of dodo dodo.. NUTs !!!! lol Enjoy the journey girl. We got one trip here in this world and I have given it 1000% and would do it all over again. Hope it all comes together for you., Sound like you really do enjoy Erhu. Remember... Every day is a great day,, Some are just better than others.. Willy

Its hard to follow on from such a great post as the last one from Willy. However, since I have been mentioned several times in this thread and not so far replied I thought I ought to put something.
Its true that I did finally give up playing ErHu because of joint problems - but later, after more than a year, I started again. The problems only got worse without music!
