Yeap, why not take advantage of the exchange rate indeed! And why not try a Nan Feng. I tried a few and they feel quite comfortable under the fingers. Apparently those qins are made under the supervision/guidance of MA Weiheng. Not trying to do any promotion here; just making an observation! Any other thoghts/opinions? Has anyone played a Nan feng guqin?

Have just bought a second qin. I struggled with the idea - after all, these are worthy but luxury items (as some would put it, anyhow) - and eventually ended up getting a newly made Ma qin in the shape of a palm leave (jiao ye). Will tell you more about it in the coming weeks/months. It's certainly very different from the Wang Peng qin I've had since day one.

BTW, how come this forum has become so silent over the last few weeks? I've got a good excuse - I've been away - but surely not all of you have been away as well...?

Some people seem to have migrated to the 'guqin' group on facebook.

I'm a nobleman? More like a 4th kyu with illusions of being a 10th dan.

facebook is a networking site aimed at the over-18s (in theory - my cousin's daughters are both on it and they're 17 and 14). It's big advantage is that is has special interest groups, so it's comparatively easy to find people who share your hobbies/interests. Also, people are supposed to use their real names.
To join, google for facebook and when you get there fill in the application form. When you're accepted search for the 'guqin' group. You'll find Charlie, SCWGuqin, Syburn and me already there, plus Juni from Toronto. There are just short of 60 people in the guqin group, of whom 7 or 8 are active contibutors.

its a shame that the 2 forums cant be linked somehow?
one of the interesting things about the facebook guqin forum is some of the members are well famous in the world of english speaking guqin luminaries (which is a very small world BTW).

Thank you Charliecharlieecho. I've signed up for Facebook, but I am yet to see how it's a better medium for talking guqin than this forum...Maybe I've gotten used/attached to this forum...

oh i dont think its designed as a fourm. there are no sections like here. its all just about guqin. and there arnt any options - its very basic.
ideally both places should be linked cos there arnt enough regulars on either place.
