I'm a pipa player from Pontianak, West Borneo, Indonesia. I want to know the International Pipa because we in Pontianak plays in F key so our Pipa was tuned in 5 1 2 5 (G C D G). Please tell me about the Pipa out there so that I Could play in International Standard ;D

Hi there, Chinese pipa is normally tuned to A D E A - which would be 6 2 3 6 in C Major. But many modern pieces out there are requiring different tuning now so i wouldn't worry about it..... I have to tune to an open G chord when I play dueling banjo with a guitar.......... I have never heard an Indonesian pipa before, please share some music with us!!!!

Indonesian Pipa is the same as the pipas out there. but in Pontianak, we are more creative ti recycle the strings that has broken. we can tie it so the string can be used again. or if we're out of broken strings stock, we use the guzheng string too
