Hello everybody I'm Shawn How, from sunny tropical Singapore. I started a blog to document my lived experiences of learning to play the silk strings Guqin 古琴 in Singapore. Please visit my blog at guqinlearner.blogspot.com/ to watch my videos and leave your comments. Please feel free to use my videos for your research papers. They are Creative Commons videos. I am just a beginner who started to learn the Guqin in March 2012. My teacher is an American called John Thompson. Yes, he can read and speak Chinese. His website is at www.silkqin.com/If my playing in the video is poor, it is entirely my fault, not my teacher's. (*smile*) My Guqin is tuned to B-flat on the 1st string (the thickest string). So far so good, the silk strings are very stable even in 80 percent humid tropical climate. My teacher went to www.JunTianFang.com in Beijing and helped me to select it, purchased it and had it airfreight to Singapore. I am very grateful to my teacher for his help. Thank you! yours sincerely, Shawn
