I noticed that it's been quiet from the British 'lot' the last few days, It's hard to concentrate on music when your home is burning.
May I thank our police and emergengy services for duty, far and beyond the call of duty.
Be safe
Ed (in London)

Hi Ed,
Hope you and your family and those in the cities of England are okay.
I hope others who come here don't take away a distorted impressed of England from the minority of hooligans.

You're prabably not into trainners but JD Sports doen't exist anymore in Catford. I'm glad to hear Waterstone's was left untouched. Sure, I guess Harlem in the '70's didn't represent the US I actually looked at the net to see where Oregon is. Heaven!!

<snip>I actually looked at the net to see where Oregon is. Heaven!! Especially considering the weather problems elsewhere, Oregon is a pretty good place to be. I have been commuting to work for the past two weeks on my scooter (Vespa) and the temperatures have been in the 70's and low 80's F. I really don't like leaving the Pacific Northwest from mid June through September. I pray that the violence in the U.K. is brought under control soon. Best wishes, David

JD Sports? ! Crikes. You must be kidding. Don't chavs and hoodies go there? You should've seen Clapham Ed - it's frightful. In contrast - central London wasn't so terrible. Maybe not as frightening as Croydon: www.guardian.co.uk/uk/2011/aug/14/flautist-carla-rees-croydon-riotCarla is a fantastic alto flute player. Those thugs almost killed her - apart from destroying her life's work, her flutes and killing her cats.

How awful! I know London Rd, Croydon quite well. The incident must really resonate with you.
Thank goodness it now appears to be over.

Sadly yes - more than the resonance of Carla Rees' Eva Kingma's alto flute with quartertones One of the flute stores I go to (Justflutes) near there is having a charity sale to support Carla Rees rebuild her life. I hope the other residents get some government help to rebuild their lives too. There's a lot about the crooks in Manchester getting sentenced in courts...not much news about those rioting crooks in London though.

Worry not, it's all calm and at peace in this Green and Pleasant Land...
