... if you haven't learned to read Chinese... Unfortunately I am not (yet) blessed with the ability to read Chinese, but I usually still find my way through Chinese websites with the help of the 'translate' function in the Chrome browser - it doesn't turn out in perfectly elegant English, but usually I can still figure out what people are writing about. When it comes to printed text this doesn't work. I have scanned texts in languages written in the Latin alphabet, run an OCR over the scan and pasted the result into a translation software, with good results. Unfortunately the OCR that came with my scanner does not seem capable of recognizing Chinese characters. Does anybody know sources for a reliable freeware or inexpensive OCR software for Chinese, ideally both simplified and traditional? That could be worth a try... Cheers, Georg
