That sounds fantastic.
I guess it won't be available on the internet to listen to for those of us who can't make it?

I would expect it to be recorded and filmed, but I don't know if they'll put it online. And anyway listening to Chinese opera or even watching a video of it is not quite the same as seeing it in person.
So if anyone is in the London area next Thursday evening (7th April), go along and have a look! OK it's not free but not expensive either. There's going to be traditional instruments (dizi, jinghu, sanxian, erhu, yueqin, percussion etc), full make-up and costumes, and there'll be English surtitles as well.

I promised myself the next time I were in HK I would go and see Peking opera. Not soon now ... too many ghosts in my life. So I'm delighted to know the opera is coming to me! I have a feeling my teacher's ensemble will be performing. See you there. (I'm the long-haired scruffy one)

Just come back from a good night out - to watch the above opera. I was surprised how professional it was. I love, as all the people in the forum do Chinese music, but Beijing opera is very different, very LOUD.
EVERYONE deserves praise but I can only remember a couple of names, so well done Kathy and Kevin.

Yes definitely professional level (in my very limited experience) and the percussion was LOUD. I hope the people nearby had ear protection!
I heard there'll be a jingju and kunqu show at the South Bank in July.

Anyone who is nearby on the day please support the opera. With government cuts to the arts the opera association is running at a loss.
Also (like marmite) it's a cracking good night out.
