Hello everyone! New member here. I absolutely fell in love with the bawu after hearing this piece: www.youtube.com/watch?v=UG8D1zyqYFU ,so I've decided to buy one, after a good few months of contemplation. I would like to get a good one that will last me a while: i.e. not a "beginner" or "step-up" instrument. So far, I've only looked at the one on Eason Music: www.easonmusicstore.com/products/Bawu-in-F-key/158Can anyone confirm whether it is a good quality bawu? I will also gladly accept suggestions for other bawus. My price range is around $120. Also, how is the shipping from Singapore to the US via "Singpost International Registered Air Mail"? It seems to be the cheapest option with tracking ($10.45). Does it ship reliably within the estimated time frame (7-14 working days)? Thank you all in advance!

Welcome to the forum, archkde. I do not have a bawu from Eason Music, at least that I can recall, but I have ordered plenty of other instruments and supplies to be confident in the quality of their offerings. If I wanted to order another bawu, I would feel confident ordering the bawu you listed.
Shipping from Singapore is a few weeks to the West Coast where I am in Oregon. Presuming the order is shipped within a few days of placement, I think that you could expect delivery in two weeks, plus or minus a few days. Keep in mind that delays due to US Customs and domestic delivery can affect the delivery date.
These are all questions that you could ask of Sung Wah at Eason Music. He could tell you how long it might take to get your bawu ready for shipment, and answer any questions about quality.
Best wishes,
David

Hi arched and welcome,
I have a few bawus of differing prices and they can be hit or miss with the tuning. This isn't a problem unless you intend to play with others in an ensemble. Eason sells quality instruments so I would expect Eason's bawus to have perfect or near perfect tuning.
More importantly to me is how easily the metal reed can be changed. You'll have to ask Sung Wah of Easton but from the photos I can't tell if the mouth piece is detachable or not. If it is not you won't have access to the reed. Assuming the reed is in perfect condition when you buy the bawu expect to reed to last less than three years. With heavy use expect about a year.
I have a couple of bargain bucket bawus from eBay that my teacher used to perform with.
