Hi z1ck12 and welcome,
Can you play any transverse flutes? Carrot's Performance range are very good; they are made by Xie Bing but with the "Carrot" name instead. The prices of these has risen significantly in the past few years. For that kind of price you might want to Google Easonmusic in Singapore.
Now the professional series are less good: I have a C which I don't use anymore. But to tell you the truth I can't even remember if it was professional or intermediate.
I asked Hongyueqi of Redmusicshop which was the better dizi, the $35 or $49.99 one. I was told there wasn't much difference and so obviously got the cheaper one. You can read my review under my full name Edward Siu.
Unless you are highly motivated and patient it is more important finding some tuition than deciding which dizi to get.
Best wishes
Ed

Hello and welcome! I agree with Ed. I would add only two things: - it is better to choose a bamboo dizi, not a wooden one for the beginning; - it is better to choose a bitter bamboo one (black or purple bamboo is great, but it is more difficult to get a good one from an internet seller (you must try it before). Best wishes, Flo.
