Hello! My new dizi came so I'm joining the low G family
I wonder what is written on my dizi, so If anyone could tell me, he would be super-nice! I bought it from here so I suppose it's the name of creator or something? I still wonder what does it mean and how is it pronounced
And now some beginner's questions
1) About the dimo, I'm having quite problems. I saw a tutorial and it seemed easy. I already tried putting the dimo 4 times. First time it seemed perfect, straight wrinkles, but I didn't feel any difference from normal tape, there was not the vibrating sound. Now on the second try, the sound sounded as if I was playing on a grass or a piece of paper (you know, like this), that typical to ears-unpleasant sound.
Is that supposed to be that pretty vibrating dizi sound? I thought it was wrong, so I put the dimo two more times. Now it's like this. Is it the right placement, wrinkled enough? It sounds slightly better now.
EDIT: For those having the same problem: the dimo needs to be warmed to play right. So for few minutes you gotta be playing while making the ugly ears-unpleasant sound and then after it gets warmed, it will make nice sound.
The dimo placement here is fine, the problem was not warmed dimo.
I read the wrinkles are supposed to be vertical to the flute. Does slightly different angle work too or it has to be perfectly vertical? I also read that it is supposed to be wrinkled, not crumbled. I can't seem to be able to make more wrinkles than this, further than that it seems like becoming crumbled. Also in one of the tries I put pretty wrinkles but next day it was less wrinkled. Taping on it temporary improved it. Am I supposed to make super-big wrinkles so that the next day they are normal?
I'm confused
2) In the jianpu system, which is quite new to me, that 1 means always C or the lowest note of the flute scale (G in this case?). I also found different fingercharts for 7 holes dizi. If I have all holes closed, I'm playing G? or C? Or do I have to cover the first 3 holes to play the tone in which the flute is (I read this somewhere, in 6 hole dizi you play the basic note by covering first 3 holes?). I also read that the dizi scale letter is carved next to the hole, so if you cover the holes, you play the note. In my case, G is carved next to the 4th hole, so if I cover first 4 holes, I play the G?
I'm confused
3) How are played higher octaves? It's not about blowing harder. It's about some special blowing way, right? How is it?
4) Now last question, are there any shops in Europe that ship dimo (and maybe the erjiao) abroad? I'm from Czech Republic, so if I bought the dimo from Asia, I would pay fortune just for shipping
I'm beginner to this so I might sound dumb But any answer would be helpful.
