I'm new to guzheng and would need some advise for purchase.
I was told that Yangzhou guzheng (like jing yun) is a cheaper alternative to big brands like dunhuang but with equally good quality. Any comments? What are the things i should look out for a mid-range price guzheng? Thanks!

I would think the sound quality is the determining factor. Price wise, its all quite competitive.

I did some research with my wife before we bought a guzheng. I would suggest doing some google searching on the various woods. The various types of woods and sounds will change the price. Some will sound brighter, some will have a deeper fuller lower range. While Dunhuang is the most famous of guzheng brands, my wife decided to buy a Dingyun for around $600. It sounds incredible, however there were some small finishing flaws in the construction that irked me.

Hi, Hi, I am a Guzheng learner as well. I want to buy a Guzheng in the UK, too. So I was just wondering where did you buy Guzheng? Thanks. My ideal price is under 150 pounds without postage fee, or 180 pounds pounds with postage fee. As I am a student so I cannot afford a lot on it. Please if you have any suggestion, let me know. many thanks.
