Chen Leiji plays STZ on his complete recording of the Mei'an Qinpu.
There are plenty of pieces on that syllabus with no recordings.

cos in JJ's famous sylabus he has PAZ as grade 4 and Shitan at grade 5. And if this "Shitan" piece seems a bit confising with no mention on any of the dozens of cds I have , why add it to this sylabus. Because JJ did not create the syllbus, he only translated it!

you would have thought that they would only put pieces on the list that have recordings, given the nature of learning gu qin (all in chinese, not much english stuff and totally foreign sound world etc.)
then, the more advanced can tackle the more rare tunes that have no recording....
i wonder - does the shanghai / beijing conservatory have a standard sylabus?

Probably do, but as I said, they are guidelines.

I checked and the lady that runs the GUQin classes was taught by him. She has the CD and it costs 38rmb. I sort of dont beleive its totally the same (soo cheap comapared to online), but it does have Shitan Saddam on it.
I had a listen on amazon actually - yes this piece seems very very similar to PAZ.

has anyone noticed there is a yan in part 3 that spans from 10 to 7.6!!!!!!
I would assume its just another typo if not for my teacher merrily performing it. still not sure how she does it.
BTW - there are lots of dou in this section too (link back from post on zhuang)

I think I know what you mean.
Ring on 10th hui, yan on 9 and then immediately slide up to 7.6.
Is she teaching you the Mei'an version (shitan zhang)? If so, then it is slightly different to the 'normal' one that is usually played...

No its ring on 10 and then your thumb yans on 7.6. Im cheating by lifting of from 10 to reach far enough. haha
im not doing shitan zang. Im using this book that is a damned messy book, with loads of corrections scribbled over the chinese 123 notations (they obviously could not afford tippex then). Maybe you know the book - cos i dont know the name.
ill say this though - the jian zi pu is more detailed than qu ji qin pu!!

More or less the same thing, except you do not pause on 9. You slide up during/in the middle of the yan. Difficult to explain in writing.
