Coming up on 4 years. I didn't really perform regularly until this year.
I improved *dramatically* when I started using an amplifier with headphones during practice. I know this flies in the face of everything the qin "stands for", but plugging yourself into a sound system provides an incredible sonic experience, and not only motivates you to practice more (because it sounds so beautiful) but also lets you hear all kinds of things you normally couldn't. I was just sick of the qin always sounding so soft and tinny and unimpressive in person, as contrasted with the magnificent sound on some recordings...

You should get Stephen Dydo's electric qin then.
I hadn't touched a qin in over two weeks because I was suffering from depression. Hell, on the trip to yesterday's yaji I was feeling physically sick and depressed as the anti-depressants didn't kick in until I reached London. I thought I wasn't gonna play (you lose interest in things), but yesterday was a total release for me when I touched the qin again! I came back with my depression completely gone!

Great!
Must be nice to attend these yaji's even though you have to travel quite far.

Oh im going crazy trying to qia qi on 7th string while the ring finger is supposed to be pressing the 6th and 7th together. Hard to press so that the 7th string does not pull out from under the ring finger when qia qi'ing.
straight after I have to tiao on the 6th so the pressure has to be firm.
ohh when will i get it right(evertime)!!!!!!

You should use the middle finger to apply pressure to the ring finger. The ring finger should be flat against the surface and the point where you press on the 7th strings is the joint of the finger tip.
