I live in the UK, and I want to buy some sheet music and music books for guzheng. Now, Chineszither.net has a great selection but the postage charges to the UK are a bit off putting ( e.g. books marked at $15 would cost over $50 with postage). When I've bought various things from China via Ebay, the postage in quite reasonable. With that in mind, can anyone recommend a Chinese source for guzheng books/sheet music. ( I don't speak/read Chinese) Thanks.

I'm the owner of chinesezither.net. The shipping charge is calculated based on weight. However, international shipping are pretty messed up. The best way is to write me directly with the list of what you are going to buy, then I can check up the postage for you. My email is info@chinesezither.net Just to give you an idea, the shipping charge for a standard weight book (1 lb) is about $12 to UK. For two books (2 lb) is $18. The rate is based on our US post office air mail rate. Then our post office also provide a flat rate box at $45.50. As long as all the stuffs can fit into the box, the rate is $45.50.

Does anyone know the chinese characters for this piece: www.youtube.com/watch?v=f9JxIibMODUIt's not the best version of it, but it's played (skeleton reduction) at a speed that I can handle. There's a more lively version for an ear piercing little whistle flute I've got on minidisc, but no title. Is it called Miao Morning or 'Morning in Miao County or something? If anyone knows where the music is published I'd love to get a copy. Thanks.

Hi All, Is anyone out there who can spare the music sheet for A chinese ghost story theme song for playing guzheng? Much appreciated if I can get one! Welcome to the forum. If you can find the Chinese characters for the tune, you can combine them with the characters for jianpu and search online. Many scores for guzheng are available online, but are almost always on Chinese websites. It is not necessary to understand Chinese, since there are tools for translation easily available. You might also post your question at www.chinesezither.net/forum/ . The forum manager, Carol, is very involved in the guzheng community, and is resourceful and helpful. She also runs Sound of China/Sound of Asia, and does carry printed guzheng books. Guzheng books are also available at Eason Music in Singapore. They may have more than is listed on their website, so you might send an email explaining what you want. Best wishes, David

If you're not talk about the movie's introduction as sung by the late Leslie Cheung (may he rest in peace), then you're probably talking about the song "Let Dawn Don't Come" Mandarin version: Cantonese version:

Thank you so much for the score. Much appreciated.
I am from the UK and a Leslie fan. Why did he kill himself with all that success?

Best not to ask that hard question. Professional success does not equate to happiness. Depression is a very difficult subject to talk about, and yours truly continues to suffer from that as well. Sad that he couldn't get proper help because the media and fans couldn't respect his privacy for such help.

Hi All.
First of all, I would like to express my gratitude for the existence of this forum and really happy to see fellow Guzheng players. I'm from Malaysia and just started taking up Guzheng lesson. My instructor encourages me to purchase the music books by Yuan Sha which is suitable for novice like me. I have the opportunity to take a look at one of Yuan Sha's book which contain the lyric for the song "Cang Hai Yi Sheng Xiao". Can't remember the title of the book. Therefore, I would like to ask if there is any downloadable version of the book or any other books by Yuan Sha? Thank you.

Welcome to the forum, guzhenglearner. I don't know of any sources to download free copies of method books by Yuan Sha. If your teacher recommends something in particular, then just buy it. Specific tunes can often be found by searching using the Chinese characters for the tune. Refer to my earlier post on this topic in this thread.

I am new here. My young daughter is learning Guzheng, but I don't know much about it. Where can I find Guzgen music books with gospel songs? We live in NW Washington and there isn't many Chinese music stores around. I tried searching on Google, but I soon lost in the web. Or is there an App that can translate piano or violin sheet music into Guzheng sheet music?
Thank you Clueless Mom

Welcome to the forum, Musicmom. You don't say in your post if your daughter is studying with a teacher, but if she is, that might be a good first stop. There are not many areas of the USA where you can buy guzheng music at a local retail music store. Most of us get our music from our teachers, or via the Internet. Carol at Sound of China in California in the LA area has an excellent selection of music for guzheng. You could email her for ideas. www.chinesezither.net/ You could also troll on Ebay for guzheng books. I don't know that I have ever run across a guzheng book for Christian or Gospel music, but that doesn't mean there isn't something out there. You might have better luck looking for a specific tune, searching with the Chinese characters for tune name, guzheng, and jianpu. This is easier if you know Chinese, but is also possible if you are resourceful. I find the characters for the instrument and jianpu on Wikipedia, and usually can find the name of the tune in Chinese characters on Youtube. For a non-Chinese tune, this might be challenging though. Maybe you could search on the characters for guzheng and Christian. If all your daughter needs is a simple arrangement of a hymn, her teacher should be able to do that from a keyboard score, keeping in mind your daughter's skill level. Best wishes, David

I also need a help with this. I need some resource not only guzheng but pipa and erhu books. I own a guzheng book but it's not too extensive. But the book's billingual.
I can't afford stuff from eason music store since they use US$ as the currency. One dollar cost me a fortune here in Indonesia. Altough the products in eason are guaranteed and the customer service is really good.
I'm looking for resource books preferably billingual or in english since my chinese is terrible that in the entire book the only word I can read is Guzheng.
