Charlie, Thanks for the help in cleaning up my mess. I don't know what caliber you used to shoot the posts, but I hope you didn't damage the erhu -- it's made from antique rosewood and cost my sister-in-law a small fortune in China -- I wish I could play it better!!!
Regards, Paul Valente

Okay, what's the formula here for posting pictures? Isn't it putting the url between [*img] and [*/img], removing the * ? Do I also need to remove the [] as well?

Hey Carlos. These guys are talkin about but with the stars removed. I trust it goes without saying that the url (location of the image) inside the img tags needs to exist and be accessible from clients.

Okay, it worked that time! I swear that's what I did the first time. I must have had the trouble because I'm merely an Ensemble Musician and not one of the Inner-Circle-Grand-Poobah-Master-Of-Time-And-Space-And-All-Rhythmic-Entities members, like David.
By the way, just to avoid confusion, I'm the guy NOT with the black hair. (!!) I actually cut a striking figure while playing because here I am, this great big American guy with a large nose and round eyes and shockingly white hair. I don't look like anything that ought to be handling an erhu.
This in the store/studio of Chinese Classical musician Lee Shi Chyi in Taipei. Great store - lots of CDs and books as well - and nt far from the Main Taibei Train Station. I'm quite happily surrounded by a wall-ful of great instruments, including several Wang Guo Xing erhus. Lee Xian Sheng is a master dizi player himself but can also la some great erhu lines.

Nice flick, Carlos. And as you will recall, I have seen and heard you handle an er hu. I bet most folks' doubts based on your novel appearance dissolve somewhere in your first phrase or two. :-)

OMG, Carlos, I was in that same room last August's visit to Taiwan. They have a whole wall of guzhengs on the other side. I still miss a guzheng there that I wanted to buy.

Carol:
No kidding!!! Lee XianSheng's daughter, Lee Feng Yuan, was visiting us for the summer, studying English at a local university. We consider their family to be good friends. Good shop, isn't it? And it's a great neighborhood - just south of that huge Japanese department store, electronic stores, English schools, bookstores, and some great restaurants.

Actually the Master-of-time-and-space shtick is relatively easy, but rhythm is a challenge. I actually cut a striking figure while playing because here I am, this great big American guy with a large nose and round eyes and shockingly white hair. I don't look like anything that ought to be handling an erhu. Actually what really knocks them out is when you talk to them in Chinese. I bow to you O Great One! Best wishes, David

Well, took a bit of work! I wanted it to have an atmoshepric effect by turning the lights off and using a lamp and mirror to focus the light no me. Trouble was, the bulb chose that particular moment to blow! And the replacement lamp was too dim. So we had to turn on the main light. The top three were taken in such a light and it was very dim, so I had to enhance it digitally. The bottom ones were taken in the dark with flash. My sister had trouble seeing me in the dark and it took many tries before the bloody flash drained the battery to ziltch, ending the photo session.
Anyways, I've used number 3 in the Wikipedia article.
